Tomorow I'm going to Grodno, Belarus. I studied a map, and got suspicious about some features. A town looks very star'ish. This stadium shape looks odd:

And this site in the woods says Zemlyanoy Fort:
https://www.google.lt/maps/place/Zemlya ... 23.7957859
And of course it has old castle fortifications:

I'll let you know if I notice anything new after my trip.
Grodno, Belarus
Re: Grodno, Belarus
The trip was very educative. Not even the locals are aware of the outer fort ring.
Here's No2. said to be from WW1.
I am possitive, that there might have been 2 or 3 rings. Sadly no info found.
The town itself. Can you see the hedgehog?
No? How about now?
Well, what do you say?

Found the inner ring:
one fort is exactly on the stadium I mentioned earlier https://www.google.lt/maps/dir//53.6688 ... a=!3m1!1e3

Hey Ginthus - Thanks for looking into Grodno - fascinating place. And at first glance, not much there, but look a little closer...
This link - https://www.google.lt/maps/dir//53.6688 ... a=!3m1!1e3 - the stadium has even retained the shape of the satellite!
The hedgehog looks clear to me, now that you've pointed it out. Colm told me a couple of weeks ago that he thinks most major star cities were hedgehogs, of one form or another. It's looking like he might be right.
Is this where you see the hedgehog (below pic), or do you see it laid out differently?
-------------------------------
There was possibly a crown structure - or a continuation of the hedgehog, on the other side of the canal (which is now a railway, I see).
--------------------------------
Or maybe it was double-sided?
---------------------------------
I'll add some more to this later today.
