Hi Hazel - there are some lovely, precison-cut field systems around both of these cities you mention - and some excellent, triangulated, almost intact canal system that would have fed the field system and been a route to the star cities at both sites. This type of highly intricate field system can be found everywhere across the world, always in the presence of a canal system which is interwoven into it. It seems that in the far East, (from a Western perspective) that the star cities were rectangular in shape - but always, as everywhere else, surrounded by a main canal.

It looks as though Hiroshima had a wonderful inland port system when it was starcity, sadly most of it is now underwater.
