Antwerp, Belgium 1940's

A quick glance at Colm's KMZ pins identifies Antwerp as a major star city/hub -

But how much more starciv presence was there, just 80 years ago, in the 1940's?

Quite a bit, as it happens. And the stuff that is still there now, was a lot more visible.

A pic of the two satellites at 51°10'02.55" N 4°25'57.23" E and 51°10'21.86" N 4°27'37.62" E - both clearer to see and less overgrown than they are now -

and the satellite at 51°10'01.31" N 4°25'56.79" E again, plus the one at 51°09'52.15" N 4°24'22.72" E. Note in the pic below that there are areas that have been recently covered in mud - the field system is still just visible underneath it.

The satellite at 51°09'51.04" N 4°22'36.66" E shown below, sits next to what I believe is a starciv 'garden' on it's left hand side. I'm not completely sure of the purpose of these gardens, but they appear in almost all major cities with an extremely similar layout. I'll do a thread on them at some point.

----------------------------------------------------------

There was still a great deal of the original outer walling system left in Antwerp in the 1940's. It's pretty much all been eradicated now.

below is a section of outer perimeter walling at 51°11'57.35" N 4°22'47.24" E - now a roadway interchange - very good foundations upon which it was built, eh ;) Note the small oggs on the opposite side of the 'river'. (Or possibly the remians of a triangular point of the original outer perimeter walling)

and below can be seen a section of the canal ( 51°11'40.47" N 4°23'44.55" E ) that still remained that has become a main ring road. Again, the canals, once filled, made excellent foundations due to the linings/casing that were anchored to bedrock. The small triangular 'moat', which was the canal around the original floating point of the outer walling, is still there today, but remodelled slightly.
Also, bang in the middle of the pic is another 'garden', into which the triangular floating point juts perfectly.

and a little further round the southern perimeter at approx 51°11'19.03" N 4°24'55.14" E -

and round to 51°12'12.75" N 4°26'22.00" E.

below is a much larger format close-up of the area shown in the pic above - open it and view at full size - there appears to be what I would term 'mini-fields' surrounding the outer perimeter walling.

Which leads nicely into the port system at Antwerp. The port system has been extensively remodelled since the 1940's - but, in the 1940's there were still elements, footprints and 'aesthetics' that pretty much convinced me that the port system at Antwerp was originally laid down by the starciv. Almost all port systems, worldwide, follow the same basic layout as is evident at Antwerp. In fact, it's possible that's where we got our blueprints for our own civ's ports and coastal docking points.

Here's a pic of the area around 51°14'28.71" N 4°24'09.71" E.

The extremely starcivish structures in the top left hand corner (now gone) indicate that the port system may have been originally designed and built by the civilisation that liked pointy, triangular aesthetics - and was integrated into the port system and the city/hub as a whole. There are also the presence of mini-fields in the pic above.
