Lots of StarCiv evidence in this area of France. Masses, in fact. I suspect that being in the same general area as Belgium and The Netherlands - both of which also suffered a coating of silt or mud - this entire region was heavily and densely populated with StarCiv activity. It makes me wonder how much went underwater, in what is now possibly a wider English Channel.

Dunkerque in 1944:

And in the centre of Dunkerque, we find a canal auxilliary (now gone), an example of that which can be found worldwide, integrated into the canal system:

Some kind of extended jetty system that extended well into the sea and a series of island (possibly) auxilliaries! Funny, I hadn't considered that the StarCiv might have fishing fleets. Delivery of goods from far away places was obviously a massive part of their infrastructure (I can't call it 'trade' because I think they operated without 'commerce'), but fishing had escaped me. Any idea of the provenence of this drawing, 13thMonkey?

Just along the coast from Dunkirk - still, even today, plenty of StarCiv structures left at Gravelines.

In the pic above, note the nice, straight canal out to sea. It may have stretched further than the remains suggest.

Bourbourg - Can't definitely say if this is StarCiv or not - but it has hallmarks.


The triangulated canal running through or past it, the circular nature of it's boundary and it's overall integration into the field system. Hmmm.

The whole coast of both countries are littered with these things, this is just a view of where to find!
