OK, so I'm a bit confused by this one. Here is a pic of the centre of Caen, now:
49°11'10.75" N 0°21'47.95" W
Nice repurposed Star structure sitting in the middle. But here's how it looked in 1944:
No sign of the castle that is there, now. In fact, it has buildings that look StarCivish.
Where did the castle come from?
--------------------------------------------------------------------
And another strange thing:
49°11'11.83" N 0°20'57.24" W
Some lining up of circular mounds (or maybe used to be devices) between the centre of the city and inland port system.
There are also a huge number of sports tracks in Caen.
